Although canker sores can disappear by themselves, but you can speed up the healing process with the following steps:

1. Maintain oral hygiene

The main way to deal with thrush is to maintain oral hygiene, by regularly brushing your teeth using toothpaste and a soft bristled toothbrush. In addition, use dental floss to clean leftover food between your teeth.

2. Ice pack

You can compress canker sores using ice, by sucking ice cubes in areas that have canker sores. This method is useful to relieve pain and reduce inflammation caused by canker sores.

3. Enough nutrition

Lack of nutritional intake is one of the causes of canker sores. So, make sure your body is getting enough nutrition, especially vitamin B12, zinc, iron, and folic acid. You can meet all the nutritional intake of green vegetables and fruits.

4. Use natural mouthwash

Mouthwash that contains natural ingredients, such as betel leaves, saga leaves, and liquorice (licorice), can also be used to treat thrush, because these ingredients have antibacterial, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory properties. Besides being able to overcome thrush, these natural ingredients can also maintain the freshness of your mouth.

5. Avoid foods that trigger thrush

If the appearance of canker sores is triggered by spicy, sour, and hot foods, then you need to avoid consuming these foods for a while. Also avoid consuming food or drinks that are too hot, because it risks aggravating the sores on the thrush and slowing healing. If canker sores do not heal for more than two weeks, immediately consult a doctor to get the right treatment. If deemed necessary, the doctor will give antibiotics or antifungal drugs to treat infections, corticosteroid drugs to relieve inflammation, and medicines to reduce pain.
